My Story

Design has always been about how the pieces come together.

I came to residential design through a lifelong interest in art, design, and understanding how things are put together. At a young age, sewing taught me that every piece matters—and that individual pieces need to work together to create something both useful and beautiful. I’ve come to see homes much the same way.

After earning my bachelor’s degree in Politics and Community Studies, I began drafting alongside my father, Richard Emigh. I learned residential design through hands-on experience, taught myself computer drafting, and gradually built my own practice one project at a time.

Today, with more than 25 years of experience, I work directly with homeowners on custom homes, ADUs, remodels, additions, permit plans, zoning challenges, and code-correction projects throughout Santa Cruz County and the greater Bay Area.

Every home is its own puzzle. Good design means bringing together your ideas, the existing home, the property, building codes, consultant requirements, budget, and the realities of construction—and finding a solution that makes all of those pieces work together.

I stay personally involved from the first ideas through permit submittal, helping make what can be a complicated process feel clear and manageable while creating a design that truly works for your home and the way you live.
